INDIVIDUAL & COUPLES THERAPY

Individual Psychotherapy

Therapy includes 60 minute one on one sessions with Dr. Mickens to address symptoms of trauma, PTSD, grief, and loss. Individual sessions are informed by EMDR, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Behavioral Therapy. Sessions are designed to validate clients’ responses to loss, increase their mind-body connection and emotional processing, and to empower clients to live with intention instead of fear.

Group Psychotherapy

Our group therapy process includes 90 minute sessions that meet weekly both in person or virtually. Group therapy includes a facilitated experience to help you build connection, increase communication, and practice grounding and resourcing skills to deepen emotional regulation.

What Clients Say

  • I felt like Dr. Mickens really took the time to get to know me in a way that no other therapist had. She asked great questions that made me think and shifted my perspective on myself and situations where I often blame myself.”

  • “I learned so much about myself! Dr. Melody is curious and doesn’t miss a beat. She is warm, friendly, and can challenge you without being critical or unkind.”

  • “She doesn’t just stay in the past. Other therapists kept going back to my childhood, but Dr. Mickens helped me learn how to focus on the now and how I wanted to use knowledge about my past to make better decisions in my relationships now and to move on from situations that I’ve outgrown or stayed in because of my anxiety and trauma.”

Why choose Me?

I am an experienced and evolving therapist

In addition to completing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a fellowship in Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology, I continue to train and seek certifications in EMDR, the Gottman Method, and Somatic Therapy. I believe that in order to best serve my clients, I have to continue to learn new methods.

I love helping people get to know and understand themselves

Many of us have spent our lives fitting into other people’s ideals without ever examining who we are and going after the experiences in life that we want. I created this company to hold space for my clients to show up authentically and to explore who they want to become so that they can have the experiences and relationships that are fulfilling and add meaning to their lives.

I am committed to your healing and growth.

Therapy is a partnership and a collaboration. As a provider, I dedicate time, space, energy, and my knowledge to get to know you, highlight and validate your strengths, and challenge you to grow so that you can meet the goals that we design together. When our work ends, I want you to be proud of who you’ve become.

The Learning Doesn’t Stop At the End of the Therapy Hour

We talk about a lot in therapy, this blog includes additional information about mental health topics, coping resources, popular culture, and offers more information to enhance your knowledge about yourself and your emotional wellness.
